For Sylvia

I bought this long stemmed sunflower at the local Farmers Market along with a gallon of apple cider. I love Fall!!

A Prized Possession

I bought this cake stand through the silent auction at a local thrift store. I placed 2 bids and had to wait an entire week in hopes that no one would bid me up. I had to bake a cake to place on top of it, and I decorated it with my rapidly deteriorating mum :)

Silver Lake Mill

This is what I noticed as I was getting ready to leave. Pretty cool, hunh? I couldn't figure out how to get the camera out of the shot. I can't believe I've never noticed this before!

Pumpkins

Pumpkin patch
I stopped to take a picture of this beautiful arrangement and asked permission from the woman who created it. She said all of these pumpkins and gourds were "ruined" in the hail storm we had last month, so this was her creative way to make good use of them. She also offered to give me 2 huge ones, which I gladly accepted. For those of you who have been away, do you recognize where I took this from? It's on the right before the sharp yield corner on the way to Grammy's. Notice that the pond in the background of this shot now has a nice fountain in it.

Fall Self Portrait

The Slab

Remember this sign? The funny thing about it was that they never flip the top part down when the water is NOT high. Here's proof. Also check out the massive hornets nest in the background.

I like this shot of the roots along the "river" bed. We need rain in this dry and thirsty land!!

At Grammy's

Here's Why...

This is the only picture I have with Kevin in it. I admit it's pretty pathetic. I'll try to do better at my next wedding ;).

A New Fashion Statement?

So I bought a new skirt that I wanted to wear, but didn't feel like shaving :). This is the result.

Dropping in on Mom and Dad

This is the blueberry pecan granola that I made and the dilapidated mum that I bought on clearance because it is in full bloom already and it doesn't stand up by itself (it is propped up against the wall).

Friends at Work

Canned Tomatoes and Hints of Fall

Never again will I attempt to peel so many cherry tomatoes.
It's tedious work. They are cute, but not worth the amount of time it takes.

Here are 7 quarts of whole homegrown tomatoes planted by Philip and Dietrich Rhodes and 10 quarts of tomato soup from salvaged tomatoes from the last of Grammy's pickings. And a mum and a pumpkin to thank mom and dad for all of the canning jars, lids, rings, tips, and the gracious use of their much, much cooler kitchen :).

Are you the last?

This is a question that is very familiar to me this time of year. In grade school and high school all of my teachers knew my foresiblings :). I often got called on a lot that first week of school as a crutch for those teachers who hadn't done so well memorizing the names ....Ms. Rhodes, do you know the answer? My name is Rebekah, and yes... And I had my fair share of teachers calling me Anita from time to time. I don't sound bitter, do I?

In the internet world, I'll claim the 7th spot. I do look at the blogs that my siblings write on a regular basis and wonder what's wrong if more than a week slips by without an update. And then I feel a little guilty and hypocritical. So here goes...
